Version 1 is better than version None.
Written by Brian Ball
We see a sequence of very-fit humans on screen. One crosses the finish line, another sweats out a hard workout, a third ponders life and the universe as she lays on her back; breathing heavy from the effort. In short — they are, actually, doing it.
Nike says Just Do it.
So why do we feel like we're still not quite doing it?
I like the phrase "Version 1 is better than version none." It reminds me that something is better than nothing.
Just do it - is a concise way to say: something is better than nothing.
You can't do it wrong if you're breaking a sweat. Here's how to Just Do It.
- Write down on a sticky note what you're trying to accomplish.
- List 1 thing that would be a crappy version 1 of what you want.
- Close all the other windows on your computer / phone - and start.
- Don't come up for air until you finish #2
That's it. This single V1>V0 technique is all you need to get yourself unstuck.
It works for getting started on anything.
"Version 1 is better than version none."
